1 1/2 cups white sugar

1 egg

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 cup softned butter, 1 1/2 cups white sugar, egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees.

Christmas has always been my familys favorite time of the year! But my favorite part is our big christmas eve dinner. My mom and I would always make our special sugar cookies while listening to christmas music. While I get all the ingrediants out and ready momma starts by stirring together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a small bowl. Once shes done we pop in the music.

While my mom creams the butter and sugar i a large bowl until smooth id dance around the kitchen. Then my mom would have me beat in the egg and vanilla. Gradually blending in the dry ingrediants. For some reason my mom always thought it was funny to sing louder than the blender. Sometimes she'd have me laughing so hard that I'd have to stop just to catch my breath.

Christmas not only brings my family together but expecially my mother and I. Next we roll rounded teaspoons of dough into balls, and place them onto a ungressed cookie sheets. We would always see could make the most cookies before we ran out of dough. Of course I would always win. My mom likes everything neat and perfect.

Once we finish I set the timer for 8 minutes. My mom would always tell me that we dont need a timer because she just waits until there a perfect golden. But I always set a timer just in case. While were waiting for the cookies to bake we talk about our presents. trying to guess what we got each other. We'd shake them, feel them, and beg eachother to tell.

One the cookies are finished baking we let the cool and stand for 10 minutes. Im really impatient when it comes to waiting on the cookies. But my mom would say there still to hot.

Once they finally cool we start decorating. We use sprinkles, candle, frosting, everything. We'd make little santas, snowmen, raindeer. This is my moms favorite part. Shes the more artsy person in our family. She can pretty much make anything you tell her. Once we finish decorating we put them away for our big dinner. But still hide a few for my brother to put out for santa of course.
